Q: What type of events are sand sculptors typically commissioned for?
A: Most commonly, we are commisioned for promotional events involving products or companies where
branding is an essential part of the project. Team building events as part of company picnics or conventions
are typical, as well as weddings and private functions. Pretty much any event where eye catching
entertainment, or media attention is needed.

Q: How does a sand sculpting team building event work?
A: There are two main components to a team build: The demo piece and the team build. As an event planner,
besides the venues for meetings and seminars, you need to entertain your guests. Since team building events
are the norm, and your event is at a beach resort, one of the easiest and most natural ways to entertain and
engage your guests is right there in the sand.
A typical sand sculpting event includes a demonstration sculpture
created by one or more sand sculptors. The design of the demonstration sculpture should include features
representative of the client. For instance, a pet company would feature animals as part of the sculpture, or a
pool company might have waterfalls cascading into different styles of swimming pools. The demonstration
piece would most assuredly include the company logo in exquisite detail. It is a perfect photo oppotunity
for the participants.
Some companies have photographed and used the resulting images in print ads and
for company souvenirs and posters.
Then there is the team build. As is common, employees are divided into teams. A professional instructor
will do
a small presentation for the entire group, or just for team leaders when the group is large,
and they are let loose in the sand.
The Sand Sculptor Staff works with the teams throughout the event
helping to keep them on track and get real results.
This format can produce winners with prizes, or just
company bragging rights.

Q: There are so many talented sand sculptors. Why Sandman Matt over other sand sculpting companies?
A: There are many reasons! Besides the professionalism that comes with 35 years of self employment and
knowing how to make your guests feel special, and the fact that Matt is a natural born entertainer,
he brings with him the tools that will guarantee a successful event.

And, Matt provides a customized instructional video for the teams, or at least the team leaders,
to view before taking to the beach. He offers a level of preparedness and equipment that quite
simply ensures better results and real satisfaction of a job well done for all participants !
As is says on our home page: Remember that sand sculpting is hard work.
For a great event,
you not only need a top notch sculptor, you need a hard worker and a good entertainer.

Q: What if my group is resistant to sand sculpting as an activity?
A: They can just sit back and enjoy the sculpting as a performance art, or I may point out.
After working many, many team building events, and seeing the enthusiasm of participants from
the pharmaceutical industry to the swimming pool installation trades, this to me seems a silly question;
but surely a consideration.
Leave that to us! Our job is to entertain and the entertainment is not limited to the sand sculpting.
We guarantee to engage and inspire through passion and experience.
And the knowledge of the
results we can achieve; even with first timers!
*********
Q: What if we're not near the beach?
A: Sand is delivered and removed from non-beach venues as much as sculpting is performed on beaches.
All over the country!
Let us help you with this.
*********
Q: What happens if there is rain at our event?
A: As far as the sand is concerned, usually it is unaffected. If a downpour persists, eventually the
weight of the water the sand might absorb could cause a collapse. This rarely occurs unless the
rain is fast and heavy. More than an inch per hour or so.
*********
Q: A Collapse? What's that? Is it preventable?
A: A collapse is bad. It's when it all falls down. A good sculptor can asses the sand he has to
work with and will carve a piece according to the quality of the material. This is how an
experienced sculptor can guarantee a successful event without worry of a collapse.
*********
Q: How big or small can a sand sculpture be?
A: That is only limited by the amount of time and the amount of sculptors you wish to hire
for an event. From small table top sculptures up to fifty ton sculptures are routine.
*********
Q: How much notice do we need to schedule?
A: Submit an inquiry for availability. If a date is not taken, it can be held with a small
refundable deposit up to eight weeks prior to the event. Closer than that and the deposit is lost.
Some sand sculpting events are recurring for sculptors and of course, summer is the busiest season.
